Capella Sherwood teaches both violin and viola. She joined FiddleToronto in September 2006, having taught strings in the public schools in the greater Boston area for the past four years. Capella holds a teaching diploma from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and is certified to teach the Suzuki method. Her teaching combines ideas from several methods into a positive and enthusiastic approach to learning music

Capella is a freelance violist and has performed with orchestras throughout Canada and the US including the Boston Pops, the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the Kalistos Chamber Orchestra.  She is currently performing with the Canadian Opera Company.

Capella began studies of the violin at age eight, and of the viola at age eighteen. She holds a Masters Degree in Viola Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelors Degree in Music from McGill University. Her teachers include Sydney Humphreys, Andre Roy and Kim Kashkashian.
