As an orchestral performer, Meran has toured Holland, Germany, and Denmark with the Schleswig-Holstein Orchestra. Locally, Meran has played with Mirvish Productions in “The Lion King” and “The Producers”. She plays with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London, the Windsor Symphony, Tapestry New Opera, and the Thunder Bay Symphony. A strong supporter of new music, Meran has played frequently at the Music Gallery, and appeared with New Music North, Toronto Dance Theatre, Autumn Leaf Performance, and the Encounters Chamber Ensemble. She is part of a Jeunesses Musicales production that introduces children to music and string quartets. Performances of the project have been held at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. An active recording musician, Meran has recorded for CBC records, the NFB, and has been broadcast on CBC Radio 2’s “Music Around Us” and “In Performance”.
Meran maintains a strong studio of private students and has taught and performed at the Kincardine Festival, Interprovincial Music Camp, Music at Port Milford, and the University of Toronto. She is a certified Suzuki teacher and holds a teaching diploma from the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
Originally from Victoria BC, Meran studied with James Hunter and received an associate degree from Camosun College and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She has an M.Mus from UofT, where she studied with Shauna Rolston.
